First and foremost, this is a privately run web site. Because it is not a government entity, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution does not apply.

If I don't like a comment that you leave — for any reason — I reserve the right to delete it.

With that disclaimer out of the way, let me say that I'm not in the habit of deleting comments just because someone disagrees with me. I love to hear well articulated dissenting opinions. That's how we all learn and that's what this site is all about — thinking.

There are some things though that will get your comments deleted. So here's a list of some things to keep in mind while commenting:

• Discussions of an illegal nature will not be tolerated.
• Inflammatory, personal attacks will not be tolerated.
• Sexual or racial harassment will not be tolerated.
• There will be no profanity in comments.
• Explicit sexual comments or references are not allowed.
• Off topic comments are generally frowned upon and may be deleted.
• I have the final word on what stays and what gets deleted.
• There is no appeal process.
• This list is not all inclusive and anything that I deem to be in bad taste or that doesn't contribute to my goals for the site is off limits.

If this seems a little draconian, then so be it — this site was created primarily for my enjoyment and for the purpose of engaging in civil discourse.
